OUR STORY

 

TriStem is a business which has called Texas home for over 30 years.  Our experience goes far beyond Texas borders.  We have had clients in all 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico.  Our past clients include state agencies in Oregon, Nebraska, Washington, Arizona, Louisiana, Missouri, Texas, and Michigan.  Our past Federal clients include the General Services Administration, United States Postal Service, Coast Guard, and Veterans' Administration Hospitals.

 

TriStem audits utility bills for large consumers of electricity. Recoveries and savings that have accrued to TriStem's clients are in the tens of millions of dollars. No other company in the U.S. can match TriStem's record.

 

 

From the Founder

For more than a quarter of a century TriStem has been an advocate for consumers of electric power. Terms, measurement, complicated tariffs, confusing bills, and the like, have made buying electric power an unfamiliar realm for virtually all consumers. "Deregulation" has made bills even more complex. TriStem has endeavored to help clients get fair and equitable pricing and have confidence in the accuracy of billing. “Peace of mind” for our clients has been our objective. As a part of our service, TriStem has provided a broad spectrum of services for our clients. Listed below are a few.

 

  • Designed and installed Energy Management Systems (EMS). In 1983, TriStem
    installed more of Honeywell's EMS in Texas than Honeywell did.

 

  • TriStem was installing devices that would enable clients to monitor their electrical consumption 20 years ago.

 

  • Started an engineering subsidiary to assist clients in conserving and managing energy. Though now a separate entity, TriStem Engineering is a very successful and highly
    respected engineering firm.

 

  • Negotiated (or renegotiated) contracts on behalf of clients--countless numbers over
    the last 30 years.

 

  • Audited electric bills for clients--hundreds of thousands of bills.

 

  • Recovered overcharges for clients. Total recoveries and savings for clients exceed $100,000,000.

 

  • Represented clients in courts and before regulatory commissions to correct
    inequities when needed.

 

  • Sought and achieved changes in regulations for the benefit of all consumers.

 

  • In Texas, utilities were not required to pay interest on overcharges when refunded
    until TriStem led an initiative to require that interest be paid. The effort succeeded.

 

STAFF BIOS

 

Joe Seeber - Owner & Founder

 

Joe Seeber is the owner and founder of TriStem.  He holds a Business degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.  He founded TriStem in 1979 and has since conducted and/or supervised hundreds of audits for clients, recovering millions of dollars in overcharges and over-payments.  He is also the author of Wired for Greed - The Shocking Truth About America's Electric Utilities. Trisha Menchu - President

 

Trisha Menchu is the President of TriStem and has been working with Joe Seeber and TriStem for over 14 years.  She is the project manager for all audits and has performed extensive research of electric tariffs, state rules and regulations, and state laws regarding utility fees. She also manages each street light audit and is experienced in reconciliation of data to detect billing errors.  Trisha also negotiates with utility providers to resolve complex billing discrepancies, ensuring that funds are appropriately calculated, documented, and issued to the client.

 

Elaine Seeber - Director of Operations

 

Elaine Seeber is the Director of Operations at TriStem. She is in charge of making sure the office runs smoothly. She is also in charge of several aspects of sales and accounting.  Elaine has many years  management experience at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco Texas. After retiring from Hillcrest she became more involved in the operations at TriStem and is dedicated to helping the company thrive. Aside from serving as Director of Operations at TriStem, she volunteers at Waco Community Development.

 

 

Misty Guajardo - Client Representative

 

The Client Representative serves as a primary contact for clients (existing and prospective) under the direction of the President.  She is in charge of obtaining historical records and rates from the utility companies for analysis. She will answer any questions you have regarding our services and uses her skills in interpersonal communication to acquire new business partnerships with Clients through marketing and sales. She also aids in all aspects of the audit process by conducting research and data analysis.

 

 

Courtney Lopez - Auditor

 

Courtney has been with TriStem for over 7 years and is in charge of various audit duties.  She performs the initial review for each audit and files claims as necessary, working closely with the utility providers to ensure the claims on billing errors are received and processed as quickly and correctly.  She also corresponds with clients to obtain information needed to verify billing errors.  Courtney will perform in-depth audit procedures under the guidance of the president.  In addition to that, she has many hours experience with street light audits and street light field work.  Courtney holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

 

Brandon Woodliff - Audit Assistant

 

Brandon uses his business administrative skills to organize billing data into TriStem's proprietary audit database. He works closely with the Auditor to compile data for analysis from each and every bill.  He researches account usage, billing and facility information, as well as prepares documentation for on-site visits, under the direction of the President.  He is also in charge of obtaining historical records and rates from the utility companies for analysis.

 

 

Patti Hueston - Sales Representative

 

Patti is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Business. Patti has been with TriStem for over 5 years and is familiar with all aspect of the audit process. Like the Client Relations Assistant, she serves as a primary contact for clients (existing and prospective) under the direction of the President.  Patti will answer any questions you have regarding our services and uses her skills in interpersonal communication to acquire new business partnerships with Clients through marketing and sales.
